About

‘Bath Astronomers’ is a community of amateur astronomers who live in Bath and its environs. Through its meetings and website local observers can get together for discussion and meet together for observing. It is NOT an Astronomical Society and its members will most likely belong to local astronomical societies, such as the Herschel Group, Beckington AS, Wiltshire AS or Bristol AS. As such, it provides a forum and meeting place for local observers from these societies. It also seeks to advise and provide guidance to anyone who wishes to take up active astronomy.

It arranges no lectures and those who prefer them are advised to join any of the groups mentioned above.

It is the observing section of the Herschel Group which, in turn, is a collaboration between the William Herschel Society (WHS) and the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution (BRLSI). Membership of either of these bodies is NOT necessary to be an active member of ‘Bath Astronomers’. There are no membership fees.
